Transmission impedance control impacts on carbon emissions and renewable energy curtailment

چکیده

The electric power grid has evolved significantly over the past two decades in response to climate change. Increased levels of renewable energy generation, as a prominent feature this evolution, have led new congestion patterns transmission network. system is originally designed for conventional sources, with predictable flow patterns. Insufficient transfer capability congested systems results commitment more expensive plants and higher curtailment. One way mitigate adoption control through variable-impedance flexible ac (FACTS) devices. In paper impacts on generation cost, carbon emissions curtailment are studied under wide range scenarios, including mix from major US regional organizations, different load curves, representing seasonal variations. A two-stage stochastic unit commitment, FACTS adjustment, used evaluate devices various types penetration energy. show that installation effectively reduces emissions, Location resources, peak-hour demand system's among influential factors.

Modeling impacts of European renewable energy policies on the emissions of mercury

This paper presents the methodology and results of impact assessment of renewable energy policies on atmospheric emissions of mercury in Europe. The modeling exercise described here was carried out within the EU’s FP7 EnerGEO Project and involves an interaction of several models. First, a set of energy scenarios has been developed with the REMix model that simulates different levels of penetrat...

Renewable energy investment: Policy and market impacts

The liberalization of electricity markets in recent years has enhanced competition among powergenerating firms facing uncertain decisions of competitors and thus uncertain prices. At the same time, promoting renewable energy has been a key ingredient in energy policy seeking to de-carbonize the energy mix. Public incentives for companies to invest in renewable technologies range from feed-in ta...

The Impacts of Population Change and Economic Growth on Carbon Emissions in Nigeria

T he main aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of population total, gross domestic product per capita, urbanization rate and energy use on carbon emissions in Nigeria for a period of 1981-2015 using autoregressive distributed lag approach to co-integration (ARDL). The empirical results revealed evidence of a long run relationship among the variables. The generalized ridge ...

Impacts of Human Factors on Willingness to Use Renewable Energy Sources in Iran and Morocco

Currently Iran and Morocco are going through an energy transition. Ambitious plans exist at international, regional and national governance levels to deploy renewable energy sources (RES), such as concentrated solar power (CSP) and photovoltaic (PV) solar power. These plans foresee deployment of RES to cover local growing energy needs, to diversify energy supply and to benefit from electricity ...
